Fresh Financial Scandal Rocks ZBC

A FRESH scandal has rocked the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) amid reports an internal audit has exposed Acting CEO Wisdom Hombarume’ s dishonesty and financial indiscipline, the Zim Morning Post can exclusively reveal. Mwonzora Says New MDC Leadership Now Takes Over Chamisa Biti Out

DOUGLAS Mwonzora, who was today restored by the Supreme Court ruling as the opposition MDC’s Secretary-General, has said that the MDC will uphold the ruling as it is a party of rules that respects court judgements.  The ruling reduced Nelson Chamisa to the position of Secretary for Policy, the position he held in 2015 while Thokozani Khupe was declared the legitimate interim leader of the party. Police Warn Shebben Operators Tikakubatai Makavhura Munopika Jeri

POLICE have warned people illegally setting up shebeens in the country’s suburbs during the 21-day lockdown, saying offenders will be arrested. Zim Government Announces 20 Years In Prison For Spreading Fake News About Coronavirus

The government has gazetted tough new laws that could see people spending up to 20 years in prison for spreading fake news on the novel coronavirus. According to Statutory Instrument 83 of 2020, people who peddle information deemed false by the government face up to 20 years in prison, a hefty fine or both. “For the avoidance of doubt any person who publishes or communicates false news about any public officer involved with enforcing or implementing the national lockdown in his or her capacity as such, or about any private individual that has the effect of prejudicing the state’s enforcement of the national lockdown, shall be liable for prosecution under section 31 of the Criminal Law Code and liable to the penalty there provided, that is to say a fine up to or exceeding lev

President Mnangagwa Announces 21 Day Total Shutdown Of Zimbabwe COVID-19 Inouraya

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has officially declared a total shutdown where all citizens are to stay indoors in light of the spreading coronavirus pandemic. The shutdown is with effect from Monday, 30th March 2020 and will run for an initial period of 21 days, subject to review. The President said food markets will remain open and movement will only be allowed with respect to the procurement of food, medicines or other necessities. All citizens in fuel queues will not be allowed to leave their vehicles.  Security forces will be on hand to assist civilian law enforcement agencies to ensure compliance. IT’S business as usual at the busy Mbare Musika Market in Harare with thousands of traders, middlemen, buyers and long-distance bus travellers converging early morning every day despite a government ban of not more than 50 people gathering to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
