A drunk man from Pumula North got the surprise of his life when his wife thrashed him after he called her a prostitute.
The defeated man ran to the police to report the issue.
The man, one Victor Mahlangu (30) was beaten by his wife Sharai Sibanda (29). A family friend who spoke to B-metro on condition of anonymity said Victor arrived home drunk and spewed derogatory verbal attacks on his wife.
According to the friend’s narration of the unusual incident, Sharai grabbed Victor’s private parts after her husband had grabbed her by the neck and strangled her.
The friend said:
He came home dead drunk and headed straight to the bedroom where his wife was sleeping and insulted her saying she was a prostitute. It happened so fast as he grabbed her by the neck and strangled her. But his wife managed to free herself from the tight grip of his hands. Sharai grabbed his private parts and twisted them causing Victor to fall in agony.
Sharai then turned her husband into a punching bag and gave him facials with her fists leaving him bleeding from the nose and mouth.
The battered and bruised Victor then crawled from the bedroom to the kitchen and his wife followed him and struck him with a cup on the head.
He then staggered to a police station where he reported the case.
Sharai was arrested.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident and advised community members to live in harmony. He said:
Suspecting each other in a marriage does not help as it foments trouble which could lead to a break-up of the union. However, it is important to develop trust and respect for each other. Therefore we urge community members to stay in harmony. When a couple faces problems in a marriage they should seek help from pastors or community leaders.
