Boyfriend on September 8 Attacked

On Monday, September 8, 2025, my boyfriend came to my house to fetch me. We had previously agreed that I would sleep over at his place in Soshanguve. While we were at his home we had an argument and I told him that I wanted to end our relationship.

He became angry, telling me he would not allow me to break up with him and that he would kill me if I tried. He took out a knife and threatened me. He pushed me onto the bed and acted as if he was going to stab me but he stabbed the bed instead. He then pulled an electrical wire from the ceiling and threatened to hang himself. He begged me not to leave him but I insisted that I was done with the relationship and wanted to go home.

I packed all my clothes, including those I had previously left at his house. He helped me carry them to his car. Before we left he went back into the house and hid the knife in his pocket without me seeing. As we drove, he stopped at a bottle store and bought two Amstel beers which he drank while driving.

I live in Stinkwater and he lives in Soshanguve. We were driving towards my house but when we reached the Mogogelo crossing he turned into a different road. I asked him where we were going and he replied "I want a perfect spot in the bush to kill you." He then showed me the knife.

I saw some cars approaching. I grabbed the knife from him, opened the car door and tried to get out to ask for help. He stopped the car, got out and came to the passenger side stopping me from escaping. As I got back into the car I hid the knife on the back seat. When he returned to the car, he asked me where the knife was and I told him that I had thrown it away.

He then waited for the passing cars to disappear before driving into the bushes and stopping the car. He locked the doors and broke the two beer bottles on the car's door frame to create sharp edges. He took my phone, turned on flight mode and "do not disturb," and threw it into the trees.

He gave me one of the broken bottles and kept the other. He told me to stab him before he counted to five, or he would stab and kill me. I did not stab him. When he reached five, he stabbed me in my hand. He then demanded that I undress so we could have sex. When I told him no and that I was on my period and wearing a pad, he said, "You don't have any rights to say no. Either way, you are going to die."

Terrified, I undressed. He also undressed and told me to perform oral se...x on him. He said if he did not enjoy it, he would stab me in the neck with the bottle. While I was doing it he told me to get on top of him. When I said I couldn't he adjusted my seat to make me lay on my stomach. He came to the back of the car and began to penetrate me. I started crying but he ignored me. After he ejaculated inside of me he took the seatbelt and began to choke me. I fought back by biting his hands, and he let go.

He then went to the back of the car to access that thing that holds petrol under the seat. The knife I had hidden there fell out. He saw it and said "Yes, you bitch you lied to me. Here is the knife. Now it will make things easier for me."

I quickly unlocked the door, got out and tried to run but he caught me. He pushed me to the ground and began stabbing me. He stabbed me two times in the head, three times in my ear, three times in my right arm and once in my left arm. I grabbed the knife and broke it. He began to punch me in the face and then pulled me back to the car. He locked the doors again.

He took a t-shirt from my bag, dipped it in petrol and tried to put it on my face. I managed to grab the shirt from him, climbed on top of him and held my hands over his mouth and nose until he fainted. I searched his pants, took his phone and called my sister telling her to come fetch me at the Mogogelo road. I told her she would see me running. I don’t know how I managed to fight him but I just thank God I managed to escape.

I was bleeding and dizzy but my sister arrived on time. She took me to the Refentse Clinic which then called an ambulance to Jubilee Hospital. I called the police and opened a case of attempted murder and rape against him.

His first court appearance was on  2025 where he applied for bail. His bail hearing is scheduled for September 12th 2025, at the Moretele Temba Magistrate Court. Gender-Based Violence needs to come to an end, we can’t

Global Food Security and the Challenges of Feeding a Growing Population

Food security refers to reliable access to enough safe and nutritious food for healthy living. As the global population continues growing, ensuring adequate food production has become one of the biggest challenges facing humanity. Climate change, conflicts, rising food prices, and agricultural limitations are all affecting food systems worldwide.

Agriculture remains essential for economic development and food supply in many countries. Farmers produce crops and livestock that support billions of people globally. However, unpredictable weather patterns, droughts, floods, and soil degradation are reducing agricultural productivity in many regions.

Technology is playing an increasingly important role in improving food production. Advanced irrigation systems, genetically improved crops, artificial intelligence, and precision farming techniques are helping farmers increase efficiency and reduce waste. In some regions, vertical farming and hydroponic agriculture are also emerging as innovative solutions for urban food production.

Food waste remains another major global problem. Millions of tons of food are lost during transportation, storage, and consumer use every year. Reducing food waste through improved logistics, education, and sustainable consumption habits could significantly improve global food security.

Experts believe international cooperation, agricultural innovation, and environmental sustainability will be essential for feeding future populations successfully. Governments, businesses, and communities must work together to strengthen food systems and ensure long-term access to affordable and nutritious food worldwide.

Mesothelioma Lawyer: Legal Help After an Asbestos Cancer Diagnosis

A mesothelioma diagnosis can turn a family’s life upside down. Medical appointments, treatment decisions, financial pressure, pain, and uncertainty can arrive all at once.

For many people, one major question comes up quickly: Was this caused by asbestos exposure, and can my family seek compensation?

A mesothelioma lawyer helps people diagnosed with mesothelioma investigate asbestos exposure, identify responsible companies, file legal claims, and pursue compensation through lawsuits, settlements, or asbestos trust funds.

Mesothelioma is strongly linked to asbestos exposure. The American Cancer Society says pleural mesothelioma starts in the chest and is the most common type, making up more than 8 out of 10 mesothelioma cases.

What Is Mesothelioma?

Mesothelioma is a rare cancer that develops in the lining of certain organs.

Types may include:

Pleural mesothelioma, which affects the lining around the lungs
Peritoneal mesothelioma, which affects the abdomen
Pericardial mesothelioma, which affects the lining around the heart
Testicular mesothelioma, which is very rare

The American Cancer Society says about 3,000 new mesothelioma cases are diagnosed each year in the United States.

What Causes Mesothelioma?

The main known cause is asbestos exposure. Asbestos fibers can be inhaled or swallowed. Over time, those fibers may irritate tissue and contribute to cancer development.

ATSDR explains that breathing asbestos can increase cancer risk, including mesothelioma, and that asbestos-related disease may appear many years after exposure.

Because mesothelioma can take decades to develop, many people were exposed years before diagnosis.

What Does a Mesothelioma Lawyer Do?

A mesothelioma lawyer may help with:

Investigating where asbestos exposure happened
Reviewing work history
Identifying asbestos-containing products
Finding responsible manufacturers or employers
Filing lawsuits
Filing asbestos trust fund claims
Gathering medical records
Working with exposure experts
Negotiating settlements
Protecting filing deadlines
Helping families after wrongful death

These cases are different from ordinary personal injury claims because exposure often happened decades ago.

Common Asbestos Exposure Locations

Mesothelioma lawyers often investigate exposure connected to:

Shipyards
Military service
Construction sites
Power plants
Oil refineries
Steel mills
Factories
Railroads
Auto repair shops
Boiler rooms
Schools and older public buildings
Insulation work
Pipefitting
Electrical work
Demolition and renovation work

Family members may also have been exposed through asbestos fibers carried home on workers’ clothing. The National Cancer Institute notes that family members of heavily exposed workers may face increased mesothelioma risk from fibers brought home on shoes, clothing, skin, and hair.

Why You Should Contact a Lawyer Quickly

Mesothelioma claims have legal deadlines called statutes of limitations. These deadlines vary by state and may be based on diagnosis date, death date, or other facts.

Waiting too long can limit legal options.

A lawyer can help determine:

Which state law applies
What deadline controls the case
Which companies may be responsible
Whether trust fund claims are available
Whether a lawsuit should be filed
Whether the family has wrongful death rights

What Compensation May Be Available?

Depending on the facts, compensation may include:

Medical bills
Cancer treatment costs
Lost wages
Lost earning capacity
Pain and suffering
Travel for treatment
Home care
Caregiver costs
Funeral expenses
Wrongful death damages
Asbestos trust fund payments

The amount depends on exposure history, diagnosis, responsible companies, available evidence, and state law.

How Mesothelioma Lawyers Are Paid

Many mesothelioma lawyers work on a contingency fee. That means they are paid a percentage of recovery if compensation is obtained.

Before hiring a lawyer, ask:

What percentage do you charge?
Are case costs deducted separately?
What happens if there is no recovery?
Do you handle asbestos trust fund claims?
Will I owe anything upfront?
Will I receive a written fee agreement?

Final Thoughts

A mesothelioma lawyer can help patients and families understand legal rights after an asbestos-related cancer diagnosis.

Because exposure may have happened decades earlier, these cases require experience, investigation, and access to asbestos product records.

If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with mesothelioma, legal guidance can help protect your family’s options while you focus on medical care.
