SPEAKER of Parliament Jacob Mudenda now stands guided by the Supreme Court ruling which cannot be contested by anyone, so much so that deposed MDC leader Nelson Chamisa can not recall any legislator from Parliament, Morgen Komichi has said.
Komichi dramatically stormed back into top leadership of the MDC after the Supreme Court ruled decisively last Tuesday that Chamisa was illegitimate and ceased to be the leader henceforth.
In came Thokozani Khupe, who as interim president guides the party to an extraordinary congress within 90 days with Komichi as the reinstated national chairperson.
Komichi told Zimbolivenews that the Supreme Court ruling reduced Chamisa to a Secretary for Policy and Research in the party while Khupe was reinstated as the party leader.
As such, Komichi said no person, including the Speaker of Parliament, would want to be seen going against a Supreme Court ruling knowing fully well the consequences of doing so.
“The Supreme Court judgment supercedes political moves, so much so that if Chamisa writes a letter to recall us then Speaker Jacob Mudenda will be guided by the Supreme Court judgment which is above any political moves.
Noone, particularly the Speaker of the Parliemant, wants to go against a Supreme Court ruling,” said Komichi.
Some people had expressed concern that Chamisa would retaliate and recall Komichi, Mwonzora and other legislators and Senators from Parliament. Komichi further said he has since instructed Douglas Mwonzora, who was reinstated as the Secretary-General of the party, to make preparations for the extraordinary congress.
