Minister’s aide arrested after security breach at Zanu PF Conference
Police are investigating a security breach that happened at Zanu PF’s annual conference two weeks ago. Brighton Ndebele, who works as a personal assistant to Industry Minister Mangaliso Ndlovu, was caught with a firearm and has been denied bail.
Ndebele, who also serves as Zanu PF’s information secretary for Matabeleland South, was arrested amid growing tensions between President Mnangagwa and his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga.
Authorities are trying to find out whether he carried the gun by mistake or for another reason. Investigators have also questioned his wives in Bulawayo as part of the case.
You dont carry a firearm by mistake from Bulawayo to Mutare.... anyway maybe the wives ndvo vakaisa mumaBag ababa.Police are investigating a security breach at Zanu PF’s annual conference held a fortnight ago after a minister’s personal assistant was intercepted with a firearm.
Brighton Ndebele, Zanu PF’s secretary for information and publicity in Matabeleland South and aide to industry and commerce minister Mangaliso Ndlovu, appeared before the Mutare Magistrates Court and was denied bail.
The 40-year-old’s arrest comes amid heightened tensions within Zanu PF, fuelled by a deepening feud between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga.
ZimLive understands that security at the conference was unusually tight, with all security aides — including those attached to ministers — barred from bringing weapons into the venue.

A multi-agency probe is now under way to determine whether Ndebele’s conduct was a lapse in judgement or part of something more deliberate.
A member of Zanu PF’s Matabeleland South executive told ZimLive: “Ndlovu is a close ally of the president, and in the fog of factionalism, Chiwenga’s people want to get to the bottom of this — hence his extended incarceration.”
Investigators have reportedly interviewed Ndebele’s two wives in Bulawayo as part of their inquiries.
Ndlovu, who is the Zanu PF Matabeleland South provincial chairman, said he was surprised to learn that his personal assistant had been arrested.
“I didn’t know he had a firearm with him. In any case his role as my PA does not require him to be in possession of one,” the minister said.
“He is still in custody so I have not spoken to him. He sent a message just before the phone was taken, just to inform me that he is in custody for possession of a firearm.”
Ndebele previously served as a pastor in the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Bulawayo before leaving in disgrace in 2017 following a groping incident involving a female lawyer and church member.
He was convicted of indecent assault and received a suspended 12-month prison sentence, after which he was deregistered by the church.

DUI Lawyer Cost: How Much Defense Can Really Cost
A DUI charge can affect your license, job, insurance, reputation, and freedom. Many people focus only on the court fine, but the real cost of a DUI can be much higher. Hiring a DUI lawyer may feel expensive, but not having the right defense can cost even more.
The cost of a DUI lawyer depends on several factors. These include the seriousness of the charge, whether it is a first offense, whether anyone was injured, the lawyer’s experience, the location of the case, and whether the case goes to trial.
A simple first-time DUI may cost less than a case involving an accident, high blood alcohol level, child passenger, refusal to test, or repeat offense. Some lawyers charge a flat fee, while others charge hourly. Trial representation usually costs more because it requires additional preparation.
A DUI can also create hidden costs. You may have court fines, license reinstatement fees, higher car insurance premiums, ignition interlock costs, alcohol education classes, towing fees, probation fees, and lost income from missing work.
A DUI defense lawyer can review whether the traffic stop was legal, whether the officer followed proper procedures, whether the breath or blood test was accurate, and whether your rights were violated. In some cases, evidence may be challenged or charges may be reduced.
The goal of a DUI lawyer is not always to “beat” the case completely. Sometimes the goal is to reduce penalties, protect your license, avoid jail, or negotiate a better outcome.
Before hiring a DUI attorney, ask what the fee includes. Does it include court appearances? Trial? License hearings? Motions? Payment plans? Clear answers can help you avoid surprises.
A DUI is serious. The right lawyer can help you understand your options, protect your rights, and make better decisions during a stressful time.
Best Personal Injury Lawyer Near Me: How To Choose The Right Attorney After An Accident
When you are injured in an accident, the first few days can feel confusing. You may be dealing with pain, medical bills, insurance calls, missed work, and stress about what comes next. This is why many people search for a personal injury lawyer near me after a serious accident.
A personal injury lawyer helps injured victims understand their rights and pursue compensation when another person or company may be responsible for the harm. These cases can involve car accidents, slip and fall injuries, workplace accidents, dog bites, truck crashes, medical negligence, and wrongful death claims.
The best personal injury attorney is not always the one with the biggest advertisement. You should look for experience, communication, local court knowledge, strong case results, and a clear fee agreement. Most injury lawyers work on a contingency fee, meaning they only get paid if they recover money for you.
Before hiring an attorney, ask how many similar cases they have handled, whether they negotiate directly with insurance companies, and whether they are willing to take a case to trial if needed.
A good personal injury lawyer can help collect medical records, accident reports, witness statements, photos, and expert opinions. They can also calculate damages such as medical expenses, lost income, future care, pain and suffering, and loss of quality of life.
If you were injured because of someone else’s negligence, speaking with a personal injury lawyer may help protect your claim before deadlines expire.
