Mnangagwa Orders The Release Of Obadiah Moyo

President Mnangagwa is reported to have been behind the Health Minister Obadiah Moyo’s release after he was arrested by ZACC last night, Zimlive reports.

According to the publication:

Moyo, appointed to the position in 2018, was initially picked up by officers from the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) on Thursday evening, but President Emmerson Mnangagwa allegedly ordered him released because he had not been informed of the plan to arrest him, according to sources.

It headlined last night that Moyo was arrested but sources came back and said he was released after he was questioned. ZACC even denied the Minister was arrested when contacted for comment by ZimLive.

Dr Moyo came under fire after Hopewell Chin’ono and other publications like ZimLive and ZimMorning post unearthed gross levels of corruption in the procurement of medical supplies by the ministry. It also emerged the minister handpicked companies not on the procurement register to supply medical supplies to the ministry.
