Publication Reveals Agreement Between Military & ED To Cede Power
There are reports that President Emmerson Mnangagwa is on his way out after the military chiefs finalized the departure plan for the country’s number one.
According to online publication, Spotlight Zimbabwe, there is confirmation from military circles that Mnangagwa is headed for the door marked exit.
According to the reports, Vice President, Rtd General Constantino Chiwenga, is going to takeover the reins of government from Mnangagwa as a transitional president, at a date and ceremony to be announced and broadcast on national television.
VP Chiwenga is said to have already lined up his incoming cabinet, and will retain some of his allies who include: Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) Commander, General Philip Valerio Sibanda; Lands and Agriculture minister, Rtd Air chief marshal Perence Shiri; Foreign affairs minister, Sibusiso Busi Moyo; Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Mozambique, Lt. Gen. (Rtd) Douglas Nyikayaramba; Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Tanzania, Lt. Gen. (Rtd) Anselem Nhamo Sanyatwe, among others.
This follows after it was revealed that president Mnangagwa is keen to end Zimbabwe’s worsening political and economic crises through dialogue and he is waiting on his political rival Nelson Chamisa to extend the olive branch.
Mnangagwa said MDC president Chamisa should join him at the Political Actors Dialogue (Polad) – a platform where he regularly meets with leaders of opposition parties who contested in the 2018 polls
Mnangagwa and Chamisa are under immense pressure from within and outside the country in order to hold talks which are seen as the only way of delivering the country from the throes of economical and political pains.
