Six people were killed and 16 others injured in a tragic road accident involving members of the Zion Christian Church (ZCC) early this morning, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed.
According to a press statement released by Commissioner (NYATHI. P), the accident occurred around 0200 hours on August 11, 2025, at the 283-kilometer peg along the Mutare-Masvingo Road. A Toyota Quantum vehicle carrying 22 ZCC congregants veered off the road and overturned before landing on its wheels.
The bodies of the six victims were transported to Masvingo General Hospital for postmortem examinations. The 16 injured passengers were admitted to the same hospital for treatment. The ZRP stated that the names of the deceased will be released once the identification process is complete and their next of kin have been notified.
The ZRP’s Chief Staff Officer (Press and Public Relations) urged all motorists to avoid speeding and to observe all road rules and regulations to prevent further loss of life.
