Thousands of congregants converged at Mbungo Estates for this year’s Easter Sunday celebrations, marking a memorable occasion filled with spiritual and cultural expression.

A highlight of the day was the grand entrance of ZCC leader, Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi, accompanied by the church’s brass band. Attendees were treated to vibrant musical performances and dances from brass band groups representing various countries.

This year’s celebrations featured a unique blend of cultural dances from the nations represented, adding a rich, multicultural dimension to the event.

In his Easter address, Bishop Mutendi reflected on the resurrection of Christ as a symbol of hope, unity, and righteousness.

“As our Christ Jesus rises from the dead, that resurrection symbolises unity, hope and righteousness for the ZCC congregants and the people of Zimbabwe. We must also rise and build our country, our communities, our families and our marriages. As we leave this place let us go and preach peace in our communities, youths playing their part, our women and also Politicians whom I urge that their voices must continue uniting people,” Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi said.

The government applauded the role that the ZCC church is playing towards socio-economic transformation in communities.

“Let me appreciate the bond that exists between the church and our government. We continue to work together and the ZCC church has been playing a crucial role in our province in contributing towards food security, access to education and hea lth facilities,” Masvingo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Ezra Chadzamira said.

“We appreciate the support that we get from the church in terms of uniting our people. We continue to pledge our support as we join forces in instilling good morals in our communities and to our youth and children,” Minister of State for National Security, Honourable Lovemore Matuke said.

As the event came to an end, the ZCC church proved that indigenous churches are in safe hands given the commitment and determination shown by the young generation who attended the conference.

Beyond its spiritual mission, the church has significantly contributed to national development through transformative projects in agriculture, education, health, and tourism.
