3 Arrested For Trafficking Mutoriro Worth US$15,000 In Harare

Police recovered crystal methamphetamine worth Z$1.7 million (about US$15,000) after a high-speed chase in central Harare which led to the arrest of two women and a man, a court heard on Friday. Kudakwashe Charles Mapara, 25, Gertrude Glenara, 21, and Natasha Gamuchirai Chari, 23, were charged with unlawful dealing in dangerous drugs before Harare magistrate Stanford Mambanje, who remanded them in custody to Monday for their bail ruling. The court heard that on August 24 this month, detectives from CID Drugs in Harare received information that drug dealers driving in a silver Honda Fit were going to make a delivery of illegal drugs at the NetOne building in central Harare. Second Batch Of Deported Zimbabweans Arrive From UK

The second batch of so-called ‘foreign national offenders’ consisting of seven Zimbabwean deportees from the United Kingdom arrived in the country on Thursday taking the total to 21. The seven, convicted of several crimes including murder, rape, robbery among others, regarded as Foreign National Offenders,  arrived at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport aboard a Boeing 767. The returnees were taken to the Zimbabwe Institute of Public Administration and Management (ZIPAM) for quarantine. Second Batch Of Zimbabweans To Be Deported Next Week From UK

A SECOND deportation charter flight to Zimbabwe from the UK has been confirmed for next week Wednesday, 25 August, amid indications that some of the Zimbabwean nationals who have been served removal notices are stressed and suicidal. The Zimbabwea government has previously said there is nothing strange about the deportation of Zimbabwean nationals by the United Kingdom government, as the host country had a right to do so if it felt the foreigners were violating its laws. Dozens of Zimbabwean nationals are being held in Brook House Immigration Removal Centre and face removal from the UK. A petition has been launched by Black Activists Rising Against Cuts (BARAC) UK to stop the flight to Harare and currently has over 24,000 signatures. Man Busted After Dressing As Woman To Write Exams For Lover

A lovestruck man was recently busted after he dressed up as a woman for four days so that he could write his lover’s exams. 22-year-old Khadim Mboup made headlines in his country following his antics which were motivated by love. President Mnangagwa Extends Level Four National Lockdown

PRESIDENT Mnangagwa yesterday further extended national lockdown level four by two weeks and warned that Zimbabwe faces the threat of a fourth wave being experienced in other countries. He said this in a televised address yesterday evening as he urged citizens to comply with Covid-19 prevention protocols. The President said the global death toll had reached 4,29 million and the grim figures are largely due to the Delta variant among other virulent variants. The Delta variant has been attributed to 80 percent of Covid-19 cases being recorded in the country which has seen nearly 4 000 people succumbing to the pandemic nationally. Mashura Private Hospitals Are Charging US$1000 Per Night For Covid-19 Patients

Getting hospitalized for Covid-19 treatment has is causing a financial burden for patients, as most private hospitals in the country are charging fees of up to US$1000 per day. Most patients have been forced to seek treatment and admission at private hospitals as government hospitals are being overwhelmed. President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government was forced to institute a level 4 lockdown due to the spike in Covid-19 infections and deaths. According to research carried out by the state-owned weekly publication The Sunday Mail, private hospitals are charging between US$800 and US$1000. First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa has reached out to thigh vendors and urged them to leave the world’s oldest profession.
