DETHRONED Ntabazinduna Chief, Nhlanhlayamangwe Ndiweni says Zimbabwe’s broader opposition should redirect energies towards ensuring democratic systems prevailed in the country before they could entertain hopes of removing Zanu-PF through an election. Ten Police Officers Arrested In Chegutu For Mining Gold Without A Licence

AT LEAST 10 police officers have been arrested for allegedly prospecting for gold without a licence at David Whitehead Textiles effluent ponds in contravention of the Mines and Minerals Act. David Whitehead Textiles effluent ponds were invaded by illegal gold panners during a gold rush late last year, during which a machete gang leader Taurai Mutandwa was fatally shot by police. Members from the Police Support Unit and Duty Uniform branch were then deployed to protect the ponds. Mnangagwa & Chamisa To Meet At Nkomo Birthday Party

THE Joshua Nkomo National Foundation (JNNF) says it plans to celebrate the late Father Zimbabwe Joshua Nkomo’s birthday with a rare political party leaders’ get-together bringing among others President Emmerson Mnangagwa and opposition MDC leader Nelson Chamisa to share a meal of cow hooves. Nkomo, born on June 19, 1917 passed away on July 1, 1999 at the age of 82. The JNNF, a trust formed to celebrate the life of the late Vice-President, has been holding annual events in June and July in remembrance of the former liberation war giant. High Court Tells Govt To Stop Demolitions

THE High Court has ordered Government to stop all demolitions taking place in Chitungwiza and Epworth as they are unlawful and unprocedural. The details were confirmed by Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) who were providing legal assistance to residents’ groupings. “The High Court ordered demolitions to be stopped in Chitungwiza and Epworth as they are unlawful and unprocedural after considering that this ban should serve as a warning to the rest of all councils that demolitions will have repercussions on them,” ZLHR said.     The ruling comes after Chitungwiza Residents Trust (CHITREST)  dragged Government to court after filing an urgent High Court application against the ongoing wave of demolitions which have razed down most trad

Informal Traders Seeking Court Order To Block Demolition Of Stalls

Some informal traders and residents have filed an urgent chamber application at the High Court seeking an order to stop local and central government from demolishing their vending stalls and tuckshops in Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe Radio Legend Peter Johns Has Died Aged 60

The former Radio 3 favourite died at a hospital in London on Monday after battling three strokes and a heart operation, friends said. Childhood friend DJ King Jay said Johns, known by the nickname ‘The Radio Driver’, “had been ill for sometime following a triple heart bypass several years ago.” “He was arguably Zimbabwe’s finest DJ,” King Jay said on Twitter.In December last year, Johns’ eldest son Mark opened up about his father’s health troubles, revealing that he had suffered three strokes and a heart attack. Whole Mhondoro Village Tested For Coronavirus After 3 Villagers Found Positive

A whole village in Mhondoro, Mashonaland West, is being tested for coronavirus following the death of an 82-year-old grandmother on April 21. Health officials are still mystified how the elderly woman, the mother of former minister Sylvester Nguni, contracted the virus while living in a remote village with a maid and herdboy. Nguni on Sunday rejected news reports suggesting that his mother had recently travelled to the United Kingdom, or that she was in contact with a nephew who returned from the UK.
